Bought my business cards the other day from moo.com an designed them all ready for my show in 3 weeks an they came! they look fab an i will be uploading pictures very soon guys :)

Some new work! Every time I come on here its always in one big outburst, but at the moment I am preparing for my end of year show and the theme is Typography. I am designing a book on Cancer and the book is called icancervive. This book means a lot to me because of the subject matter being such a sensitive topic. My book will be a beautiful piece with type treatments in response to some stories that I have kindly been given by inspirational cancer patients. So as a teaser here is one of the type treatments I designed using bright inks. The ink mixing with the water expresses a lot of emotion in the colour so I hope you enjoy it!

My typeface I designed from a set of glyph’s taken from another typeface :) This was a lot more easier than I thought it would be but probably because some of the glyph’s made characters in there own right. I have a thing for Typography but have never dived into the subject too much. My end of year show is coming up very soon and I have decided to concentrate on Type for this show which is exciting for me. Keep looking through :)

So I blogged ages ago about this book I designed for The Penguin Awards a year back now and decided it was time to tackle the book cover again with my issue on the type! I hope that after amending the layout of the actual design now the type looks more considered and there is more space to appreciate the layout of the type. I stuck with the same design because my concept was strong. I am happy with the 2nd attempt now I have had time to develop as a designer. Enjoy :)

So here is some more Branding work for a soft drink I came up with. The name of my drink is TRU FRUIT and is targeted at 30-40 year old adults. It is a sophisticated drink with a perfect blend of flavours. Again this work has been designed by myself with a broad range of ideas. I am also showing a board with idea generation because I feel it’s just as important to see what has been put into the work and where the thought came from as well as the final execution itself. None the less I really enjoyed this project and what I have learnt from this work as a designer is to keep pushing the effort. Enjoy :)

Roses Student Awards “Tree Hugger” brief. These are my boards I sent off to the competition and they show how much of a turn my work has taken in terms of professionalism and skill. Hope you like it :)

Hey everyone so this is my logo for myself. Not decided on a colour yet that’s why there’s  a few variations! I have chosen to go for a pastel colour anyway. So my logo is made up of a font I found and then I had to go over it with the pen tool myself to smooth out lines and fix any issues I had. I have struggled many weeks thinking of a logo for myself because I felt personally I need an identity for myself especially seeing as my end of year show will be coming up some time next year and I want to be prepared and have business cards ready! I chose this particular style handwritten because it suits my personality and I want that to shine through. I have a lot of character so hopefully this will speak to people but I am very proud of myself for finding my way after hitting so many walls in the process!

Blogger Update

So I’ve not wrote on here for a while but just to let you all know I have my blogger up and running and it has most of what is on my Tumblr account. Set up for Uni purpose’s. I also have gotten closer with my softy drink brief and have a nice snazzy logo to work on. Earlier than expected to be honest, because now I have alot of time to develop and make lots of merchandise for the brand. Very excited.

The British Library Exercise

I designed two poster’s as part of an exercise in class, to see how well we could layout endless amounts of text with constraints of only 2 colours, few typefaces and few weights & sizes. I personally think I did a good job, using pastel colours. The first poster is one I did in class, set Portrait and with a time scale of 3 hours I did decide to touch it up at home and here it is. The second poster is one I decided to do whilst getting to grips with layout. Landscape surprisingly seemed easier and I was a lot more creative with my headline type. I am developing a better understanding everytime I walk into class, and leave with the ability to design work to a high standard. I hope you enjoy!
